As climate action and renewable energy implementation become a top priority for corporations, businesses, and public entities, cities across Iowa have begun developing and adopting climate action plans for their corner of the state.
Renewable energy champion and Mayor of Cedar Falls Rob Green took office in 2020 and has made it a priority to get his city on a greener track.
“Clean energy and environmental stability aren’t a partisan issue – they’re the vital legacy we need to pass along to the generations that follow,” said Mayor Green. “As the closest level of government to citizens, cities, and especially mayors, need to take the lead in these initiatives. I’m just glad I can do my part.”
Under Mayor Green’s leadership, the City of Cedar Falls developed a city-wide Resilience Plan to address diverse energy initiatives such as conservation and efficiency, environmental stewardship, and education, a long-term shift to a municipal electric vehicle fleet, and more. Fortunately, the city-owned Cedar Falls Utilities is an active leader and community influencer in these fields, making an easy partnership with citizen-customers.
Power Up Iowa thanks Mayor Green and Cedar Falls for their hard work and continued leadership in support of clean energy and climate action.
